cards and cafes

I have made a decision to work seriously on selling some cards.  There, it is in writing for the world to see. I am not going to say anymore, except that over the next couple of weeks I will finalise some card designs and get a new site up. This all of course depends upon children and work commitments.

Here is a sneak peak of some small Animal Soup gift cards.

This morning I went back to Breathing Space Cafe and had breakfast with 2 of my very long time friends Karen and Martine. Martine is moving to Sydney today, so it will be sometime until I see her again. My work is up hanging on a wall. I took a framed sample in today so that is why there is blank space in this photo below. I left over 60 brochures last Tuesday and I think only half were left! I just hope they don't all want them at the same time!

The one on the right is the alphabet sample. It comes in 2 colours schemes.

Felting and Food

I'm a little busy doing some 'real work' at them moment. I'm designing a logo, some freelance illustration and of course some more ABCmes. I went to a new cafe yesterday with two friends. It is called Breathing Space Cafe, check it out here. A group of mums have started this up specifically for families to have somewhere nice to go AND have a break, with/from their children. I have to say there really isn't much around here like this. I was impressed by everything...

the food: I ate a pumpkin fruit cake with some tea.  Delicious. My friend B had some corn fritters with smoked salmon and it looked soooo good. You can order lunch for children for $5 that includes a sandwich, a tub of yoghurt, milk or juice, a cheese stick and a little box of sultanas. My friends 2 year old was so excited. he even started waving his hands around and jumping up and down on his seat. I mean give him that at home and its like....BORING!

the service: we felt like we were the only ones there and given that it is school hols here, it was very busy. "is your table big enough?" "just let us know if you need anything." "You're not too hot in here are you?" Truly lovely and friendly staff.

The children can go into a side area and back yard where there are more qualified child care workers to take care of them. There they can play, make things, run around, dress up......etc etc. There are balloons just hanging about..help yourself. They even have extra nappies and wipes if you don't have any. I mean how good is that? It only costs $5 for 1/2 an hour and if your child is out there and decides not to stay, then you don't have to pay.

I just really hope that they are successful, because these group of ladies are honestly so nice with such a great, useful and for my side of Brisbane, unique idea. I'm going back for breakfast on Saturday with my non-mummy friends. They even have given me a space to hang some of my work. Great exposure.

So if you are ever here in Brisbane with children, it is well worth the visit.

I could continue my need to list, but I'm feeling tired and really don't want to think about it all tonight.. I might not sleep.

so here are some photos of my 2 clowns. They really are funny together. I have a strong sense that they will grow up to be good sibling friends. Today I caught them lying on the couch. One at one end, the other at the other end..the souls of their feet were touching whilst they watched The Fox and the Hound. Sweet.
I guess, I shouldn't jinx this or expect too much. Tomorrow they'll be at each others throats I'm sure! But moments like these, I feel very lucky that I have them..even if they did stomp dry biscuits into the floor and couch today! AAAGGGGHHH.

i didn't intend to do this today.

My temperature is roaring..infact my face is red with heat...but I think it must be good for my creative juices.

I went to bed a 4.30am...Nic went to work at 5.15am....Master A came in to talk to me at 5.45am. BUT:::::::::

I have flown through all my work, started some block printing (not yet ready to blog) and created these.

sleep. it is 3.30am and I am wide awake. Ever have nights when you really want to sleep, but can't? With my cold, I know I am going to regret getting out of bed this early, my kid free day will be wasted because I will be so tired.

I know there is more, but I have that part out of my head now. I have taken some medication for my throat and drank a glass of milk...back to bed for a couple of hours.

here is a photo of my working space I took a litte while ago. Soon, I will be placing the computer desk into the wardrobe area..ripping the doors off and adding some better shelves....aggggghhh, can't wait. The green walls were here when we moved in...hated them to begin with, but now I don't notice them so much. I do want to change it when I get the studio refurb, but not sure what colour?

we are all sick with colds. Well Master A is almost over his. Miss M and Nic are the worst.

Feeling flat and sorry for ourselves.

Here is what sick feet look like...Miss M just couldn't wake up this afternoon. Poor little poppet.

I am going to now make ravioli. I made the pasta earlier this morning.

I'll blog the results.   No I won't, because it was all to busy and i didn't take any photos. The kids were cranky, and so was I. It tasted really yummy and everyone ate it alllllllll up. That will have to do!

I need to go and roll it out and make a filling. I'm thinking...chicken, goats cheese, pine nuts and fresh herbs..maybe some pumpkin for the filling. I better start now because it will take me longer than usual. A glass of wine is always good for colds...isn't it?

work, work and more work

I was hoping to have made something over the weekend. Instead I have been busy working. I seem to be getting busier as the year moves on. I will be spending the beginning of my week designing. Here are a few of the ones I have been working on over the last couple of days. The proportions are not to scale.Abigail and Ethan are going on canvas. I have yet to make some birthday invitations for Ethan too. Amelia and Tess Ruby are mounted works on paper. All are coincidently on their way to Melbourne. I love designing these, but when I do a batch at once, my eyes and brain go all loopy!

I need to create a list of all my craft WIPS. I walked into the dining/sewing room this morning and was amazed at how many projects I have on the go. I need to focus again. Shall do this hopefully tonight. Right now, my little boy  is "SOOOOOOOO HUNGGGGRRYYYY MUM!" Best go and feed him before he dies of starvation.

Saturday.

I just ordered Indian takeaway.

We had a rough night last night.

Nic's results have come back with perfect vision. There were a few hours after the surgery of discomfort and pain, but after midnight he managed to get some sleep. He is constantly having to use eye drops. But on the whole he is amazed at the results and can't remember ever having such clear vision.

i didn't sleep however.

Miss M woke at 1am. She is unwell with a rattle in her chest. Her temperature was 39 degrees. She wanted to come back to our bed. Of course she couldn't because of Nic's eyes. I nursed her until 2.30am. But when I popped her back into her cot she started screaming again. I just had to let her go. It kills me listening to her cry for that long. She settled at 3am.

This morning on the way to the Doctor, a car decided to turn right from the left lane at the roundabout. I was in the right lane going straight ahead. He came right in front of us! Bloody Queensland drivers. I braked. I clipped his side. A car ran into the back of us and received the most damage of all.

On a lighter note. Spring is here. And we have been in some serious need of rain. Guess what..it has been raining all day. So it doesn't feel all sunny and bright like spring should. But I am so loving this rain, it makes me just want to sit and sew.
