spring cleaning...
has begun.
here on the left you have my dining room table as it has been for several weeks. It was even left that way when our friends came to stay. That is how much I put off cleaning it. Underneath the ironing spray, whiskey glasses (they are clean) felt squares, children's books, catalogs and sewing are a bunch of receipts and paperwork waiting to be processed in order to hand over to the accountant for tax....
here on the right is my very clean dining room table that has survived yet another dumping horror story. This is what it looked like at the end of the day. Now when we bought this furniture, neither my husband nor I said, 'wow that is a nice table. that would look lovely with piles of paperwork and family junk on it. yes, let's get it.'
After completing this task, I vowed and declared to myself that I am more than happy to go through life without knowing anymore about tax and accountancy then I already do. Life is too short and there are too many illustrations and quilts to make. I have this same theory about hanging socks on the washing line....but that is for another day.

Yay, well done. I'm most impressed. I skived off work on Friday to tackle my huge pile of similar horribleness, but ended up moving all the furniture and waxing the floors. It's the Spring, I swear, it does it to me!

What an amazing transformation! I had to laugh about the family detritus part. I have a beautiful, big coffee table, the first piece of furniture that I spent a lot of money on, that felt like an investment and made me feel very grown up. But I have become very anti coffee table, because all it ends up being is a surface for stuff to collect. I seem to spend most of my time shuttling and shuffling things around from room to room - back to where they belong.

That's great. you know it's wonderful to see gorgeous quilts, beautiful artwork - but REALITY! who'dve thought? very refreshing indeed. Does that mean we can all start using lap/tray tables to eat off?

My dining table looks exactly the same most of the time. An organised mess is what I refer to it as.

It always feels so good to deep clean. I usually find things that have been missing for sometime.

If I clean off one table, another one is piled high, and so on. Our kitchen table has the dollhouse construction going on and is going to be like that for quite a while. I really never have our house looking perfect unless it's Christmas. That's sad isn't it!

Oooh you're making me feel guilty about my dining room. The thing is I can close the door so I keep putting it off. I don't even know what's in there anymore - lots of junk and stuff that has no home. It's amazing how quickly it can build up though. Well done - your dining room table tooks amazing!
