toe nail priority

Jhoanna from One Red Robin, is hosting the theme for “This Is . . .” week. It is a self portrait with your favourite accessory.

I don't have a favourite accessory of all time. I can never choose just one favourite of anything. I get annoyed by those meme's that want to know your favourite movie/food/drink/colour etc. It's just not possible to have one. I admit I like many a good thing.
So because I was waaayyy overdue to have some toe nail love I decided that this morning was the right time to go. I also felt the need for a new mag and picked up the latest Frankie. I think new magazines are one of my favourite accessories...and there are many of those.

now, if only the ladies who did my nails could have told me to roll my pants down after leaving the shop! Thanks, that would explain the strange looks from the people at the post office as I walked passed.

clean screen

both my computer and TV screens are covered with evidence of sticky fingers. Not to mention the odd tongue licking...well not my computer, and not by me, but geeesssh, the TV is ferral. Lucky I found this tip via dancing with frogs site.

green fresh summer weekend

we have the coldest pool. It really is like swimming in ice. The kids often come out with blue lips and teeth chattering. Finally this summer we have had 3 continuous days of hot, sunny weather and there is plenty more to come.

so we are enjoying the weekend splashing around, even if we look like aliens from the planet 'Aqua'. Those eyes!!...spooky.

And all the recent rain has brought a fresh crop of limes...perfect for making special summer beverages like  a  caprioska....
Post2

Caprioska recipe...

Fresh lime or two, quartered and slightly sqeezed

teaspoon of sugar, white or brown

couple of splashes of  vodka

plenty of crushed ice

wave soda water over the glass.

mix and serve!

My heavily pregnant friend is coming over to whale herself  in the pool later today, so I bought some non alcoholic sparkling back from South Australia. Agggghhh, life is gooooood!

love birds

for a non-blogging friend and her soon to be husband. I have just taken it to the framers and can't wait to see the results. I'm unable to make it to the wedding, and I'm sure she is too busy to even know I have a blog so I feel safe that I'm posting this. I have been caught out before however....there are many lurkers out there!!!

just sitting

Sometimes I draw and really wish I knew what to do with the final pieces.

Then sometimes I know what I want to do, but never really seem to get it all happening.

All the usual suspects like time, commitments etc get in the way.  Ideas and illustrations often get lost in my computer system, in the back of my head, within the piles of paper on my desk or in an archive within a post on my blog.

It is a process I am familiar with, yet one that I am never really happy about. I'm torn between the functional/practical side of graphics and the purely aesthetic side of art.

When I am like this, I often revisit old themes, hoping that new directions will emerge and my creative uncertainty will be satisfied.

36 hours, 2 kids, 38 degrees C, 2045kms later

Mr N needed to go to Adelaide on the weekend for business. So we thought we would go with him for the ride.

It gave me an opportunity to visit one small room and see some of my work. Such a beautiful shop and super friendly owners.

there were also lots of other amazing works on display, such as sprout design fabrics.

I couldn't forget to pop in to Nest Studio whilst there. They are only a few shops apart. I didn't have much time, but the shop and the studio space look wonderful.

just hanging around

i've been working on my mobile for the mobile swap hosted by elsiemarley. I've struggled with this swap. I think maybe because I have just had so many other ideas in my head that I want and have to do. So I have decided that I won't do anymore organised swaps for quite sometime. They have to be fun, not a chore.
