I've been revamping my images for the ABCme personalised children's artwork that I sell. Slowly hacking away and finally I have uploaded the new images and the new colourways onto my website.
Now all I need is to start designing some orders so I can add new imagery of existing works to show as samples. All the current photos show the old images. Not all the images are different, some have stayed, some have altered slightly, some have been deleted and replaced by new images altogether.
You'll see xray fish, an urchin, monkeys for girls and boys and I've even swapped a few for the same letter. A is for alligator and C is for crocodile! Why not?
So to launch the new images I'm giving one personalised ABCme away for a child of your choice. This giveaway must be for a child, nothing else I'm afraid. The ABCme will be on an A4 sized paper and I will ship anywhere around the world. I'll also design one in a different language other than English if you prefer, so long as the images are selected from the range I have. The winner will get to choose the images and the colourway from 10 colourway selections.
The winner will be drawn on Wednesday 10am Queensland time. Don't know what that is? Well we are (in so many ways) one hour behind Australian EST. Celebrations tonight. He requested golden parcels from a favourite Thai restaurant of ours for his birthday dinner. I surprised him with a lychee and ice cream sundae with sparkles. All this on a school night!
why is it that birthday photos never really turn out right? All the commotion of getting ready leaves little time to focus!
Tonight I should be crafting with some lovely local ladies. I keep on not being able to go due to husband being away, work or as it seems sickness this time. I've been sick for over a week with a horrible infection, but there's nothing like 75 antibiotic tablets to make you better!!!! So I'm finally on the mend and in major catch up mode. I have been "slothed" out on the couch for most days and picking up the needle and thread to continue my hand quilting on this quilt which I started many, many months ago...maybe more than 12? It needs ironing I know!
So I was almost going to go to the craft night, but this great storm rolled through the city late this afternoon, I had 30 cupcakes to make and ice and a birthday present for a special boy to wrap.
How incredible is this rainbow? It fell so close to our house. I kept on thinking that someone must have a pot of gold in the their backyard. It was truly special to be so close.
I'm a hoarder of magazines. Real Living, Inside Out, Vogue LIving, Selvedge etc. I even have mags that date back to the 1990s. Honestly I don't know why I can't throw some of these out because some of the designs back then are shocking. Maybe one day they will be stylish and a new wave of crafty/designer types will be inspired.
Well that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
I have friends who simply rip out what they find inspiring and chuck the rest of the magazine in the bin. They have a little book that is all catergorised to put the int he scraps. I admire this so much, but I just don't have the time or patience to be this anal. I am anal in other ways. I stack all my magazines by the date. Oldest to newest. It works for me and I use these magazines all the time for different reasons.
My husband only complains if we have to move and he has to buy more moving boxes to cater for all my inspiration. He really doesn't get it.
Infact, we are so opposite sometimes. Right now we are wanting to fix up our side fence as it is not aligned properly. This gives us a good excuse to make it look nice and make a garden that doesn't look like a stampede of wild animals has passed through. So he decides to draw up a plan of the new area. He is an engineer so everything is linear and there are little numbers and abbreviations scribbled across the page. From this I am supposed to make a decision about everything so he can get the builder started.
When I ask him what materials he is thinking of using, his answer is "something that will look nice."
How can I possibly leave it at this and hope for the best? So hence a new inspiration board is needed. I've begun cutting up my magazines and using an inpiration board on a regular basis. I really didn't like the idea of destroying the mags at first, but I'm over that now.
Today I made a board for the garden. My husband thinks I'm kooky. But I think it will work. We will meet somewhere in the middle and sometime in the not so distant future we will get that backyard looking better.
Not much to say at the moment. First time in a week since I have felt like being here in this space.
I'll be adding some new cards to my shop. These have been on the to do list for quite some time and have finally been printed.
My almost 6 year old has been wanting to do this puzzle since he was 4! It has been stored away in the chest. I think my sister or brother gave it to me when I was a teenager. So it was decided yesterday that he (with the occasional support from me) would give it a go. He has so much patience! Unlike Miss M who can't play a game of memory without showing me some ballet moves, changing chairs 3 times and wanting something do drink!
And on my desk today, the morning light filters through my studio window, beckoning me in to create!
Printed and ready for the making. My first official printed design on fabric available now through Sproutdesign. The fabrics are 147cm wide and perfect for larger projects.
There is also more of me to come too. I sold a design at the Indigo Trade Fair last week in Paris! A fairly well known client has bought it and will be making some 'products' next year. So until then......I can't show anything. This is the down side to designing for an agent. But very soon the Paper and Cloth website will be updated and you can go and peak at my folio of works. You just need to ask for a password. The textile industry is very hush, hush and protecting intellectual and creative property/ideas is very serious!
