so we packed away the Christmas decorations yesterday and the house seems so bare and empty. Whilst trying to retrieve a bauble from under the couch I discovered a few lost toys and a whole heap of dust.
Time to move the couches and clean. Except I have this life long habit of moving furniture about and so decided to change the layout of the family room. It makes it feel different and I think it will stay like this for sometime. I've even cleaned parts of my studio including the paper drawers. This ultimately led to wanting to illustrate with paper and so I squeezed in some time yesterday afternoon.
I'm preparing myself for the rest of the holidays now. Mr N is back at work and I have a heap of preschool things to complete. I failed to order A's stationery and books at the end of last year and realised that he will need proper school shoes for year one. Then there is M's library bag and cushion cover that need to be made. I think a trip to funkyfabrix is in order this week.
Orders have started to filter through and small works need to be completed ASAP. It looks like the year has truly started.
On a completely different note to my boring, daily affairs. I want to wish Adam Elliot all the very best for his new movie, Mary and Max. Adam won an Oscar in 2003 for his animated movie, Harvie Krumpet. Because our mums have been friends since their teen years, I was extremely lucky to see Harvie being made and then a sneak preview of the movie with some of my then students. Plus some very funny tales about Geoffery Rush which I dare not brag about here in this public domain. All good mind you. Anyway, Mary and Max is premiering this week at the Sundance Festival. Fingers crossed it will be a roaring success.
