Life has been so much fun of late.
Melbourne was wonderful. I was spoiled rotten for my birthday, walked many precincts discovering new, wonderful shops, and revisiting some old favourites. I jumped on and off public transport for four days and it felt like I had never left there. Seriously I love that place and get so frustrated when I return to Brisbane. Anyone who reads this and complains about Melbourne's transport or violates the system, then come up here for a week and see how bad it is. You don't know how lucky you are.
This part of the world is so backwards and slow. I always feel like I've entered a time warp. And not only that, I can never seem to get my head around the fact that I live in a sub tropical climate and therefore will never truly experience a 'classic autumn'. A season that really inspires me. The weather in Melbourne was perfect. Sunny, raining, hot, fresh....all before midday. You don't hear too many people say that now do you. People may say that the weather is what makes South East Queensland so good, BUT...oh well, I won't make this post into a moan.
Since being back, I have hit the ground running. I've collected the kids from the North Coast, caught up on a little bit of work, but have mostly spent the latter part with the kids. Milena turned 6 this week (which reminds me that I have been at this blogging game for about 4 years) so we celebrated her day just as a family at the Gold Coast by visiting Seaworld.
Today is another long weekend. I'll be cleaning I think. I'm going to get stuck into the mess and hopefully get some time later to sew or paint. Probably sew. I have a new stash of vintage japanese fabrics calling out to me.
Looking forward to normal weeks ahead. Perhaps I need to start taking some winter vitamins so that I don't fall ill now that it has dropped below 30C!!!!!!!!!!!! HA!

I guess we all have to put up with whatever climate we're stuck with - I would love to experience a tropical climate for about a year after having lived in London for 13 years (I'm originally from Sydney). Most summers average 20°C these days here, are rainy in April and August, and grey in between! I do appreciate Autumn and Winter tho. And the public transport! People here complain about it all the time but they don't know how good it is!

Ah, but that's what makes Melbourne so wonderful. You're a visitor and it's bliss to visit. See, I like Brisbane and your public transport is wayyyyyy better than what I live with. Way better. You can even put bikes on your buses.
