2.10 already

I can't believe it's that late in the day. I was thinking it was more like 12 something.

Oh well.

Good excuse to write a post...tyring my best to keep up the momentum.

Today I've been working on some old paintings and trying to loosen up my hand a little with some small studies on paper. The grey skies give the river a real silver appearance. Here's what I can see and here's what I produced.

And here's what's for lunch. Now that the kids are back at shcool, I need to remember to eat before I pick them up otherwise I will just flake.

 

 

preface to chapter one

This week, I am taking myself to see the Henri Matisse exhibition at GOMA.

All by myself. No children to tag along and tell me how bored they are. No friends at my side  to chat to about life.

Just me. Time to myself to refocus on ideas. It's the first full week I've had since early December.

I'm a little excited.

And right now in my head, I've been thinking about still life, reading about Giorgio Morandi, dreaming about white objects and shadows, vessels, wishing I could draw for 2 hours each day, and wanting to spend more time in the garden recording and researching nature.

Why can't I stay up to 2am doing all of this? Why does school have to start so early in the morning?

In the mean time, our rainy summer has really set in and I've been in the kitchen cooking more than I would for this time of year. I'm kind of enjoying it too, the cooking not the excess of rain or mushrooms growing on my external walls.

2012

Well I am alive. The last month seems like a blur.

I just wrote a entire spiel about it all, but decided to sum it up like this.

busy with work.....busiest I've been in a long time.

Last minute quilt made for my nephew...hope he likes it.

Disocvered new fabric shops...always a good thing.

Nic's birthday....best meal out in Brisbane for ages.

Migraine Christmas day....very sick.

Friends from Melbourne hung out with us....theme parks on school holidays aren't pretty.

New Year's Eve.....food poisoning for Nic....20 years together and I've never seen him so sick.

Summer heat...finally kicked in yesterday.

School holidays.....still going...and going and going.

2012.......Starting to get back to work in small steps...what will this year unveil?
