Remember the post about the fabric design I was participating in for Sprout Design?
Well, since then, I have been playing around with the design that was chosen because I needed to also design a coordinating fabric. So what you saw originally isn't going to be the final design.
Do you want to see it?
Well I will show you all in good time. In the meantime I thought I would just tease you a little with some of the other designs I submitted. Colours and proportions for all of these will be finalised/changed. Showing them in in black and white is a little boring I think.
If you have any questions about the release of the range then go to One Small Room website for more info for now.
This one is called Little Nesters.
School holidays that is. Yep, hanging out with the kids. I have a bucket load of work and commissions on my desk that need attending to, but I just can't seem to start any at the moment. The kids have been playing so well together, but they still want me to help with this and that. I am so loving being back with them, but it is just too hard to concentrate on work stuff even though I am hanging out for a bit of creative me time.
So I decided to play around with some shapes and colours. No pressure type work. Just pure play. These might end up being postcards for Etsy. I haven't been paying that side of things much attention this year.
And when the kids aren't looking, I'm sneaking one of these each day. Pierre Herme macarons. A must stop food shop if in Paris. They are heavenly.
Mine have been slightly ruffled in transport, but I have no doubts that I will be eating every crumb!
I can finally tell you about a new textile design project for sproutdesign. A group of us have been asked to design fabric for children. Seven of us are involved and it is still all very much in the early stages but you can see more over at Kristen, Bianca and Lara's blogs too if you are wondering a little more about who is involved. Here is a snippet of the designs so far.
This is my submission that was selected called Critter friends. As you can see colour-ways are still be finalised.

The process still has a way to go but the official launch will be at the Life in Style trade show in Melbourne later this year.
This week, I've been at my dark little corner, working on some graphic design and branding for this company. It is a slow process, but I'm making tracks and enjoying working with them. It is good when you get a client that you can relate to, and you love their stuff!
Apart from that I've finally put some new cards in my shop. I have two weeks to finish everything on my project/working list.
Right now I can hear the sounds of cars driving passed my house, birds, a whipper-snipper, and Mr A and his little friend making silly, funny noises in the play room whilst playing with lego. I should really go down and see if they want a blueberry muffin.
Listening in on their conversation has been most amusing. So I thought I would share a little..
Both friends attend different schools and have not seen each other since kindy last year...
A: "are you in love with Olivia?"
J: "No."
A : "Well, then who are you in love with at your school?" giggle giggle
J: "I'm in love with Georgia"
A: "Well, is that a boy or a girl"
J: " A girl I think"
The conversation directly led onto Mr A saying,
"look that is where my dog threw up today" giggle giggle.
I just wanted to say thank you to all those who commented on my dolls and emailed with some very very useful tips. I am at the next stage of development and really feel that I am getting the softie/plush whatever you want to call it, making process to a point where I am happy with my results. I now want to make these dolls stand up. The smallest one is, but the sewing was completed by hand and I need now to work on this part. Don't you love the fabric that I have used. It is a Kiku Japanese fabric, which has also made me start to to love kokeshi dolls. I'm now afraid I'm turning into one of those odd collectable types of people whose house will be filled with small dust collectors!
I have also created some new greeting cards that are in the shop, and because I am in the red and black mode at the moment I have almost completed the painting of some wooden dolls which will be also for sale. This will be a set of 5.
So, dinner is burning and I really must go.
My month of exploring orange is finished. Looking back I feel like I haven't really achieved a lot that is directly related to this colour. I don't have a passion for red, and I still don't think highly of yellow, but the combination of the two has really sparked my emotions and I think I will be using it more in future with confidence. However, somewhere along the track this colour somehow brought me to dive into the world of nesting dolls..call them Matryoshka or Babushka...(what is the difference?)and this I am thankful for.
Also my interest for pattern design has resurged. There might be a little more of this happening too. I seem to start and stop on designing patterns, but like most of what I do, I just get to a point where I don't know what to do with it. I could investigate and research avenues to get my work out there, but realistically my allocated marketing hours averages 46 minutes a month and I spread this out between bum wiping and scraping cornflakes off the floor! So for now I need to be satisfied with where I am at and be thankful for the hours I have to create ideas that one day might evolve into something more tangible.
I've been really inspired by Matryoshka dolls. I had some when I was little and maybe one day I'll get around to buying some more..its just seeing the right ones at the right price. Here's my messy desk in poor lighting and next to it one of many crazy ideas I have right now that is causing me to be a very moody artist!
I've been trying to work on creating a site that is simply a collection of my most recent works. And after months of trying I have finally decided to open the doors so to speak. It still has many more works that could be placed in there, but for now there is some sort of structure to work with. I'll add a link on this site to it as well. (DONE) For now click here if you would like to preview tsktsk collection. My plan is to keep it simple and not to have as much talky talk...which hopefully means less time involved in maintaining it.
