it has started

I've already had a few shops and people ask me if I am selling Christmas cards this year. I am, so I guess they might need them soon..like now! So I'm showing you a few of them. These will be available in the Etsy shop and I will be adding more soon.

dancing horses??

hi! well it has been a very jammed pack and hectic week. So glad to catch up with our friends, but I can't believe a week has gone. I've had a few spare moments to be continue my wips and complete a few illo jobs. I opened the windows of my study today to let the spring air in  and all these new ideas started flowing in! So I am in a crazy artistic mode again. I'm painting horses, matryoshkas and birds, updating my collection site, getting frustrated with Etsy, listening to my children get hysterical about ridiculous things, painting pet rocks and going to 5 year old birthday parties. Maybe it is the change of season that is sending me batty! These new cards are now available.

I'll leave the knitting up to you

Thanks to all of those who have entered the giveaway below and the lovely comments you have made. I wish I could make one for all of you.

Today, one of the many things I have been busy doing is designing some cards for a local craft shop. Trying to get some ideas out. I have come up with these, but I think I still need to do some more exploration. Have to say I'm having lots of fun working with a new theme. I can't knit, only crochet but one day I might try to learn. For now I'll just stick to making cards about knitting.
These and some others are now in the shop.  My shop too!

One Small Room

Recently I have been busy selling some works for a gorgeous retail shop in Adelaide.Look closely on the table for some of the images. One small room just looks wonderful. You might recognise some products from some other talented Aussies too.

I haven't been to Adelaide since I was a child and would love to visit there again. My husband is going next week....trying to twist his arm that the kids and I could go too..we wouldn't be in the way..honestly too much sightseeing and shopping to be done. However I don't think it will happen. I can't seem to organise a weekend away at the coast, let alone a trip interstate.

so so busy

Life seems to be full steam ahead here at the moment. I don't feel like I have stopped to smell the roses in weeks. The crazy thing is, I'm loving it. I been very busy with orders and ideas. These nesting dolls sitting ever so still for a photo are apart of a limited edition series called 'Rooster Girl'. (not mine) Based on an original set that represented a peasant family. I love the simple design and the subtle, earthy shades used for decoration. Some nesting dolls can be so over the top.

wants and haves

I've been waiting for the mail to arrive for a few items. Yesterday I received a couple of items, and I'm crossing my fingers that some more things will arrive today before the weekend. I purchased this fabric from Azalea Studio. Thinking of making some cushion cover for Miss M's room. And this by far is my most expensive but most treasured Etsy purchase. I'm in love with this Kokeshi doll, and she looks just right with my other little purchase.

Now I wish I could purchase some of Danny Mansmith's bags. Have you seen his work? He has a little shop too. I'm fascinated by his organic use of embroidery. And if you are after some cute dresses or pouches, Studio Globe is another great find.

I've been a little busy to with orders. I have made some more greeting cards and hope to add some more artwork into my shop soon.

baba ganoush anyone?

well my eyes are on the mend now. Still a little dry and itchy, but I'm all good to go. I've been sewing instead of sitting at my computer which has been lovely. I sat down and made some more soft matryoshka dolls. I have yet to make some with bases, but for now I have gone with this design. I have decided to add these to my shop some time soon with some others that are still on the table ready to be sewn together. I've combined a number of techniques such as hand embroidery, free motion machine stitching and drawing directly onto the linen.

next dimension stage 2

I just wanted to say thank you to all those who commented on my dolls and emailed with some very very useful tips. I am at the next stage of development and really feel that I am getting the softie/plush whatever you want to call it, making process to a point where I am happy with my results. I now want to make these dolls stand up. The smallest one is, but the sewing was completed by hand and I need now to work on this part. Don't you love the fabric that I have used. It is a Kiku Japanese fabric, which has also made me start to to love kokeshi dolls. I'm now afraid I'm turning into one of those odd collectable types of people whose house will be filled with small dust collectors!

I have also created some new greeting cards that are in the shop, and because I am in the red and black mode at the moment I have almost completed the painting of some wooden dolls which will be also for sale. This will be a set of 5.

So, dinner is burning and I really must go.

snips and snails and puppy dog's tails

because little boys should have cute things too. Available print for sale in my shop. It is a small print (A5). Thought it would be nice to give to a mum who has had her second or third or fourth boy. I also suggest buying a gold medal as a gift for her too. But I don't think they sell them on Etsy.
