mish mash

I'm trying to make the most of my wee, small hours this week before Good Friday and school holidays arrive. So many things to do, so little time to do them in.

Right now, I have new greeting cards for sale. Ideal for small kids' birthdays, esp the dressup/superhero variety. This of course has come about from someone here who will be entering the birthday zone this month.

And the fish?

Well do you ever lie in bed and visualize an idea that you must try and make before you forget it, but have no idea why you are really doing it in the first place and really know that you should be working on other projects?
Well I had one of those moments and had to try making fish.
There are beautiful handmade fabric fish out there, two locals that come to mind have made some wonderful creations which I admire very much.

I'm still battling with my idea. It isn't how I truly imagined it to be and I hope I have the time and determination to continue getting it right. That is the way 3D works for me. I lose patience and usually move onto a 2D concept in the same theme.

Time will tell.

key rings and sun visors

Today we celebrated father's day. The morning started with the usual ritual of letting Mr N sleep in and then waking him up with a coffee and handmade presents. This year he was lucky enough to get a key ring on a piece of wood by Miss M. She decorated it with seeds. Very special. But it was Mr A's present that topped the taste awards this year.....a handmade Australian Flag sun visor, made of rubber foam and decorated with kangaroos. I do hope Mr N wears it out somewhere special when I'm with him.

I rang my own father who is now home and feeling better. And in typical father mode rushed through the phone call because he had something better to do....building his trains in his shed no doubt! Life must be back to normal.

I sat and finished sewing the two sets of soft dolls for the shop today. I lost my little 'tsk tsk' swing tags and have spent several hours over the last few weeks looking for them. I found lots of other unfinished projects whilst looking and a spare set of house keys...but no tags. I figure that if I just put these up for sale without them, and order some more I will definitely found them. isn't that always the way? Like when I say "have you seen my handbag" and the moment I say it is the moment I see it.

generosity

there are so many people in 'blogland' (that sounds a bit like noddy world) I would like to meet. Some out of simple curiosity. Others out of that certain feeling you get about someone. A likeness. Some I would like to have a good laugh with over a drink whilst others to talk about their passions and get more of an insight into their mind.

Since beginning this blog there is one person I have always been drawn to. Its like I can hear her voice through my computer screen when I read her comments or her posts.(don't worry I'm not obsessed)

Every time I visit her world I feel a need to return to mine at a much slower pace. To simplify myself. Have less and appreciate more of what is around me and at hand.

I bought this top the other day from her shop and I even when opening the parcel, I felt as if there was a whole lot more to just linen and thread. Well there were a few extra goodies, but just this top alone made my day. I'm hanging in my wardrobe with my best! thank you Paula.

And then, there are those people who appreciate what I have made. Reading this post gave me goosebumps and a boost of overdrive to keep on making. Especially when they create such goodness themselves. thank you Jennifer.

Keeping warm

I plan on sitting indoors this weekend, drinking, eating and sewing. Winter winds are ever present. We are driving up to the hinterland  to enjoy some Granny and Pa time. This will keep me occupied whilst I sip some wine and help keep my neck warm if I do venture out for an afternoon stroll.
